Sassafras Creek is an exciting new gallery, café and home wares store now open in Kurrajong Village

The Gallery is a showcase for Australian contemporary craft and design, demonstrating the quality and diversity of work currently being produced by Australian craft practitioners.

The food is modern Australian ? light lunch time fare and delicious morning and afternoon teas. The menu features local seasonal produce ? stone fruit, figs, raspberries, apples, goat?s cheese etc. There are a number of seating alternatives, under the umbrellas in the front courtyard, by the fireplace in winter or on the back verandah in the late afternoon breeze.

The store is the place to find a dynamic range of home wares, perfect for a casual lifestyle. There are brightly coloured cushions and throws, softer style quilts and bed linen as well as old scrubbed pine furniture and baskets.

The Hawkesbury area was founded in 1794. From then the area was planted to feed the colony of Sydney and several towns were started. The five Macquarie towns are Windsor, Richmond, Wilberforce, Pitt Town and Castlereagh.

While visiting the Hawkesbury see the picturesque views, historic buildings, wineries and indulge in the local food and wine.

Renaissance Rocking Horses & The Loft at Rocking Horse Lodge
Set near historic Pitt Town on 10 acres, this magnificent provincial styled Home/Farm Stay features an antique appointed loft with romantic iron bed and claw bath and views to the Blue Mountains. Fernbrook Garden and Botanical Art Gallery
This lovely woodland Garden will close on 29th November at 4.30pm. If you read this before the that date, this will be your last chance to enjoy this Garden.

There will be a sale of both gift shop products and Elaine's Botanical art works.

Lochiel House
Breakfast, lunch or dinner, this is the place to treat your taste buds.

Built in 1825, Lochiel is a beautiful, early Australian settlers cottage with cosy indoor and outdoor garden seating. We offer simple, fresh dishes in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The menu is extensive, with a constantly changing blackboard featuring both innovative and traditional fare using local produce. Enjoy fresh homemade scones, cakes, light lunches and delicious dinners.

The only restaraunt in the Hawkesbury to win a 'Chefs Hat' for fine food and dining.

Muru Mittigar means “Pathway to Friends” in Darug language (Traditional Aboriginal custodians of our area).

Muru Mittigar enables you to participate and interact with members of the Aboriginal community through the exciting educational and enriching cultural activities on offer. With a focus on providing employment opportunities for Aboriginal people, Muru Mittigar also presents positive outcomes for the local community, by creating a meeting place for sharing cultures.

Cultural Experiences and Tours
Muru Mittigar provides hands-on cultural encounters with experienced and professional Aboriginal Guides. Our group tours are sure to provide you with a full cultural experience. Depending on the tour type you choose (2 hours – 4 1/2 hours), the activities include:

• Bush Tucker Morning Tea. Try our wattle seed pikelets with native jams
• Guided tour of our Cultural Centre
• Cultural Talk with beliefs and stories from Aboriginal Australia
• Try your hand at Boomerang throwing
• Didgeridoo presentations
• Join our Yarra Walk and learn about the traditional uses of local native plants
• Aussie BBQ Lunch & Bush Tucker Tasting. The bush tucker taste test is a chance to try some of our native game meat, such as Kangaroo and Emu
• Koori Art Painting Workshop. Paint a souvenir boomerang.

Tour optional extras include Dance Performances and a Bush Tucker Morning Tea. All visitors have the opportunity to stop in at our Gift Shop and Veranda Café.

Our Cultural Experiences and Tours are available for individuals, groups, and corporate groups (up to 80 people). Tours start from $34 for Children, Students and Seniors and from $45 for Adults.

Muru Mittigar is F.I.T ready and commission ready. We have special
discounted rates for domestic primary and secondary school groups.

Cultural Centre

Showcasing visiting Aboriginal art exhibitions, local artefacts and stories. Our centre covers the local Darug people, Aboriginal Australia and interpretive museum pieces.

Native Provenance Plant Nursery
Muru Mittigar’s Provenance Nursery specialises in growing Indigenous native provenance plants. All plants are from the Penrith Basin and are ideally suited to drought conditions.

one of Australias oldest wineries, orchards, a working cattle or a vegie farm plus much more.

We will personalise your tours to suit your needs, you can stop and ?pick your own? from our local orchards where you can purchase fresh produce. You can taste test our fresh goats cheese and wines before you purchase from the producers or you could wander around a vegie farm with the farmer whilst your fresh product is picked.

We offer half day tours and week ends away or you can charter one of our deluxe buses and we will personalise a tour to suit your requirements.

Located on rural Annangrove Road, Virginia Farm has been supplying the needs of spinners, weavers and felters for over 20 years.

Stocking a comprehensive range of equipment such as spinning wheels and looms as well as fibres and yarns, the craftsperson can select from raw fleece, dyed Merino tops, silk yarns and fibres, hand-dyed pure wool knitting yarn and fine cotton yarns for weavers.

Spinning classes are held weekly, weaving monthly, and one day workshops in felting, silk paper making, dyeing, etc. throughout the cooler months.
